Venezuela’s government has accused the US of launching criminal attacks on civilian and military installations across several states, rejecting what it described as “military aggression,” according to an official statement. The government said the attacks took place in Caracas and in the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira. Venezuelan authorities have also accused Washington of orchestrating the assault in an attempt to seize the country’s oil and mineral resources, pledging that such efforts “will not succeed.”

At least eleven explosions were heard early Saturday morning in Venezuela’s capital, followed by low-flying aircraft, according to the Associated Press.
